Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami, Florida on November 30, 1977. He's an American electro house musician as well as record producer, D.J. & music executive. He is the third child of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's kids. His father, who was a former wrestler was also co-founder of the chain of restaurants Benihana. There are two of his older siblings: sister Kana (who is sometimes called by her middle name Grace) & brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was raised in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with an 1995 B.A. in badminton. He was a student at UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a 2nd B.A. degrees, one of which was in feminist studies and the other in sociology. He also made records for DIY and ran underground concerts from his Biko room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative when he was in college. The Pickle Patch was born as a concert venue. He was also involved in student activism at UCSB as the founder of the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League chapter on campus. By his early 20s, he was establishing his own record label that he called Dim Mak. The name is a reference for the idol of his youth Bruce Lee. The label dropped I'm IN THE HOUSE, which was a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq-alter-ego of will.i.am. The song made it to the top spot at No. 29 on the U.K. Singles Chart in the very first week of its release. It topped the charts on both the U.K. Indie Chart & U.K. Dance Chart. The track was featured on an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore as well as in the feature film Piranha and the trailer for Think Like A Man. In a May interview with HitQuarters Lucas Secon, the producer-songwriter confirmed that he as well as Rivers Cuomo had just worked on a single. Pollstar identified him as the top-grossing North America dance artist from tours in 2012 He has collaborated with artists like Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He is famous for remixing artists like Kid Cudi.
