Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is known for his smart and hard-edged characters in action films. Together, they've appeared in films that grossed over $2.5 billion dollars. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey) They were living at the United States military base. The family relocated to the U.S. shortly after he was born. He was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey where his mother worked as a bank clerk, and his father was a welder as well as a factory worker. Willis developed an interest in the drama arts during high school, and was "discovered" while working in the cafe in New York City and then performed in a few off-Broadway productions. In one night, Willis was bartending and was noticed by a casting agent who was impressed by his character. He needed a bartender to play an unimportant role in a film. After countless auditions, Willis contributed minor film appearances which were usually uncredited. He then taking on the role of the private eye "David Addison" along with the sultry Cybill Shepherd on the cult romantic comedy series on television Moonlighting (1985). His sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. Some believe it's an exercise in preparation to practice for Willis the role he played in Die Hard (1988), where he single-handedly defeated a gang international of thieves from an Los Angeles skyscraper. He reprised his role as McClane in the follow-up film, Die Hard 2 (1990) and was set in snow-covered Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers seek to get back an infamous South American general. The success of the film at the box office prompted the sequel, Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) with a new with co-star Samuel L. Jackson as an unrepentant Harlem shop owner unwittingly thrust to assist McClane in a bombing campaign on a scorching day in New York.
