Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. Her family and her went to Europe when she was just three. Summer attended American as well as British schools as her family was living abroad. They returned to Pasadena just before her 14th birthday. Summer was just five years old when she was captivated by acting and took her first acting class. Nine months later, she enlisted an agent/manager and began her full-time profession. She is currently pursuing her college degree in her spare time. She was among the young stars featured in Vanity Fair's cover article, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Most Hot Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was listed as one of the "Ten actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil started taking acting classes when she was 14. Within a year she had signed a contract with an agency and a manager. Bishil started her career in the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. After that, she was signed to an agreement with a manager and agency. Her breakout role was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It is an adaptation of the novel with the same name. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate and Slate, stated that Bishil's performance was "the most true thing" in an film that, despite its best intentions appeared to be fake and slightly embarrassing. It was like an extended PSA on inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles journalist at the newspaper, declared that Bishil "...is among the top natural actors of recent times. In an article in the 12th of September Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil, a "...newcomer has an enthralling and confident performance as Jasira. In 2009, she directed Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her portrayal. She was chosen to portray Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender, and was slated to be the subject of the unproduced but planned sequel.
